Step-by-step
Unbox and rinse
Take the fountain out of the box. Remove all packaging from inside the reservoir. Rinse the reservoir, motor housing, and gooseneck spout under warm water. Do not submerge the motor housing — only rinse the outside.
Prime the filter
Take the filter cartridge out of its packaging. Rinse it under cold running water for 30 seconds to remove any loose carbon dust. Squeeze it gently a few times to make sure water flows through. Drop the primed filter into the filter housing inside the reservoir. It should sit flush.
Fill the reservoir
Fill the reservoir with fresh, cool tap water up to the "MAX" line (about 3.2 litres). Do not overfill — leave the fill line visible.
Attach the motor and spout
Place the motor housing into position. Attach the gooseneck spout. The submersible pump should sit at the bottom of the reservoir.
Charge the battery
Plug the included charging cable into the motor housing and into any USB power source (mains adapter, laptop, etc.). Charge fully before first use — this usually takes a few hours.
Choose your mode
Tap the button on the motor housing to cycle through three modes:
Sensor mode (cordless) — Runs 30 seconds when your pet approaches. Recharges every ~45 days in typical use. Best for most households.
Timed mode (cordless) — Runs 30 seconds every 10 minutes. Uses more battery. Best if your pet is nervous of sensor activation.
Continuous mode (adapter required) — Constant circulation using the included adapter. Does not run on battery. Best if you want water always moving.
Place it in the right spot
Somewhere quiet. Away from feeding areas and litter trays. On a stable surface where your pet feels comfortable drinking.
For cats: a calm room your cat already spends time in.
For dogs: near their usual water spot, but somewhere they can't knock it over.
Introduce your pet gradually
Do not remove your pet's existing water bowl. Leave both available for the first week.
Day 1 — Place Furput near the existing bowl. Do not turn it on. Let your pet investigate.
Days 2–3 — Turn on sensor mode. Let curiosity do the work.
Days 4–7 — Once your pet has drunk from Furput, you can move the old bowl further away — but keep one accessible.
Day 8+ — Watch what they choose.
Individual pets vary. Cats sometimes take up to two weeks. That's why we offer a 60-day home trial — send it back if it doesn't work for your pet.
Cleaning schedule from day 1
- Weekly — Rinse the reservoir and refill with fresh water
- Every 2–4 weeks — Replace the filter cartridge
- Monthly — Full clean of pump, filter housing, and motor housing
- Every 3 months — Full disassembly and deep clean
